  1. This means Calvin would be around 27 now. I wonder how he would’ve turned out. What would’ve happen to Hobbes?

I wonder if he married Susie Durkins, and they were ‘blessed’ with a Calvin Jr.?

This is one of the rare Calvin And Hobbes strips that is very much a product of it’s time. Usually Watterson’s writing is timeless and universal. But by specifically mentioning the year in the strip he places the gag within a dated context.

I wasn’t even alive in 1988…. but I think Calvin and Hobbes are for readers of all age, and are still relevant 20 years later!

The comic is still essentially timeless. Mentioning the year is merely a technical error.

Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson

Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.
