Mom is the one who’s really upset, she’s essentially telling dad, find Hobbes and don’t come back until you do. Really, Bill draws some great celestial bodies and really cool lamps too……..

When I was small, and “really upset” I always got my chocolate ice cream. But Calvin is upset because his best friend is lost. Poor little guy. I think his parents just view Calvin’s relationship with Hobbes as imaginary. It’s more than that.

If i ever lost my stuffed tiger I’d make my dad do that although I’d probably be better at finding him lol. I’m just glad my tiger would be easy to see since hes white, not red.

The reaction of Calvin, Mum and Dad is so realistic. I see my son, my wife and myself in this. Bill has such a great grasp of human nature.

Reminds me of the time my son was about 4 and lost his Dopey (from Snow Wnite and the SEven Dwarfs) puppet. I looked all over the house, and my husband went back down to the grocery store and found him in the parking lot! What a happy little boy! He’s now a Magna bleeep Laude from an Ivy League College! Funny how time flies!!

The moon switches from crescent to full moon. It’s back to a crescent in the next strip. (Things like this are easier to notice in great comics, since one is more likely to look closely at the panels.)

Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson

Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.
