Grok, the correct usage in this case would be “shone” rather than “shined”. “Literally” is almost as overused as “basically” in current colloquial English, and should not in any case be placed between the subject and predicate in a subordinate clause. Please revise and resubmit. Thank you.
“and Trudeau reduces him to some odd, insulting icon (because The Master Of Comic Strips doesn’t even attempt caricature)”
I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t. One thing I like about Trudeau is that he’s liberal, but not partisan. This isn’t “Mallard Fillmore,” where Tinsley reads RNC talking points every morning to find out what he should write. Trudeau skewers EVERYONE in power, Republican or Democrat.
Grok….If this comic bothers you THAT bad, then why do you read it everyday? Just avoid the stress…and the snide remarks!
I liked Obama’s speech. It was well done. I also like that John McCain picked Sarah Palin as a running mate. So either way, we’ll finally inject some GenX into the executive.
“I just wanted a PEPSI, mom!”
This Presidential race has suddenly become much more interesting with the introduction of Sarah Palin.

“The moment when the sun literally shined out of his rear end was my favorite!”
To all the kids who got tearfully and defensively butthurt over my comment yesterday: let’s talk again if Obama wins…and Trudeau reduces him to some odd, insulting icon (because The Master Of Comic Strips doesn’t even attempt caricature) and starts whaling on him, as satirists are wont to do (assuming he waits THAT long).
