The article by Richard Cohen cited by Oldlego is also in the Op-Ed page of the Washington Post today (6 Jan). Cohen is a regular columnist there and is considered more middle than left by many. He supported the Iraq invasion initially and changed his mind later.

I blame the people of Gaza for not keeping their militants under control. They voted Hamas in as their government - THEY have the responsibility to control their party.

lego: Nope, I saw that. And hte missile-logo t-shirt he’s wearing. A little irony there as we could read that the Israeli bomb dropping is considered as much a cause of he & his little buddies leaning that way later. It’s a tough situation. Israel must feel like they’re fighting a hydra–the trick is how do you kill it, or at least beat it down, without creating a bunch of new heads?
